Installation Ceremony

Dr. Edward L. Ayers officially became Richmond’s ninth president. As part of the installation ceremony:
• Dr. Ayers outlined his vision for Richmond’s future in his inaugural address.
• Drew Gilpin Faust, President of Harvard University, offered an introduction and remarks.
• Representatives from University constituent groups brought greetings.
Attendees included faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and community leaders, as well as distinguished delegates from other colleges and universities, learned societies, and professional organizations.
